We are so happy to be back at SAS for another great school year. We love seeing all of our families (students, parents, and guardians) after the summer break. At our Back to School Night, teachers were introduced; dates were announced and there are two that no one wants to miss: January 29th-The Cardinal will celebrate Mass with us 10:00 am (Catholic Schools Week) and May 1st- he will be our Honoree at the Sr. Roberta Scholarship dinner! We’ve also had various Catholic High Schools all came and talked to the 7th and 8th grade students to entice them all to continue their Catholic education. Over the years, many of our SAS students have received generous scholarship money to attend schools such as St. Peter’s Prep, St. Dominic Academy, Hudson Catholic, Paramus Catholic and more.
Aside from the classroom lessons, our children continue to take part in a number of activities. Our track team this year is off to a great start. Ms. Hailey is back this year to volunteer her time to teach the children dance class. She has split the children into three groups this year. We are so excited to see what she will do this year because last year’s dance was fabulous.
We are a Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligences School. Students learn (AKA have SMARTS) in many differnt ways, and we strive to differentiate our learning so the children thrive. Ms. Amanda Seewald visited all our classrooms reviewing our Multiple Intelligences approach to make sure we are staying up-to-date. She is coming back for an afternoon workshop with the teachers in November, because we can never stop learning.
One of the things we are most proud of is our new turf! A Sisters of Charity Grant helped SAS to put artificial turf on our patio to make it safer for the children to play out there. Thank you Sisters of Charity!
