Our littlest learners brightened others day. The Pre-K students and teachers walked to 2nd Home Senior Center on Palisades Avenue bearing beautifully decorated Valentines. They also performed Valentine and President’s Day sayings. They were Word, Art, God SMART!
The students in 4th, 5th and 6th Grades used toothpicks, gumdrops and marshmallows to build geometric structures. They all did a wonderful job and had a fun time doing so as well.
Grades Pre-K through 8 brought cans of soup to school for the poor for our annual Souper Bowl. They were allowed to wear a sport team shirt if they brought in food OR $1.00 for the poor.
Our students love helping each other. One of the best ways that the St. Augustine students can help each other is by being academic buddies. Recently our 8th graders were the reading buddies for our kindergarten students.
St Augustine School had its annual Junior High Spelling Bee on February 2. It was exciting. The winners were Grade 7 Marcus-1st Place and Grade 8 Liz-2nd Place.
Grade 8 was in the Science Lab preparing for our February 28th STEM Fair following the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The students work in groups of four or five. They keep a hand-written log. Making brochures is part of this task. They use recyclable materials.
